Lightweight Antonio “Toño” Moran (21-2, 14 KOs) will make his third headlining appearance on Telemundo tonight. He will also look to make it three consecutive wins on the network as he takes on tough countryman Guadalupe “Bronco” Rosales (34-12, 18 KOs). The ten round bout will be the Telemundo main event at the Auditorio Blackberry in Mexico City. The vacant WBO Latino lightweight title will be at stake.
Morán has responded well under the bright lights. However, he could very well have his hands full with the veteran Rosales, who is fresh off of upsetting an unbeaten fighter. Morán feels he will be 3 and 0 on Telemundo following his fight tonight.
How is your game plan affected given the switched opponent at the last moment?
I don’t know a lot about Rosales, but he is very experienced and has faced very top competition.
You have fought at both junior lightweight and lightweight. Which do you feel is your best weight?
Lightweight is my best weight. I feel very strong and comfortable at the weight.
Do you feel you enter this fight the heavier puncher?
I think I am the heavier puncher but I know he his strength is to slug it out. I will have to fight an intelligent fight.
There can be high expectations when you’re the hometown fighter. Are you feeling any pressure?
I don’t see it as pressure. I actually feel very comfortable when I’m fighting at home. No different for this fight.
Do you feel the last minute switch of the opponent can change the fight expectations?
I think this will still be a very entertaining fight. We’re both coming to win the vacant WBO title and advance our careers. I did what I was supposed to do in the gym and now I am ready to be victorious tonight.
