The Championships Committee of the World Boxing Association has suspended heavyweight Shannon Briggs for six months after he tested positive in doping tests on May 14. Briggs and his team were notified from the outset of the test results and they were given the opportunity to open the B test as per WBA rules. However, they did not take this option and Briggs is therefore suspended until November 13, 2017.
