Fast-tracking super welterweight Gabriel Maestre of Venezuela (1-0, 1 KO) is stepping up again. The 33-year-old Maestre, who participated in five World Amateur Boxing Championships and two Olympic Games, returns Thursday against former WBA world champion Diego Chaves (27-5-1, 23 KOs) of Argentina at the Sugar Baby Rojas Coliseum in Barranquilla, Colombia. Maestre will be defending his WBA Fedebol title that he won with a second round KO of then 20-0 Jeovanis Barraza in his pro debut back in July.
The aforementioned Jeovanis Barraza will be in the co-feature against Fernando Silva in a welterweight clash. Olympic silver medalist Yoel Finol, will also fight on the card.
ESPN Knockout will televise in Latin America.
