In the eight round main event of an eight bout card at the Plainridge Park Casino, Plainville, Massachusetts, Ryan “The Polish Prince” Kielczewski, 135, of Quincy, MA scored win number 29 against only 3 defeats with a third round stoppage over tough Mexican journeyman Miguel Angel Mendoza, 133.8, of Aguascalientes, MX, 23-15-2, 22 KOs.

Living up to his knockout percentage, Mendoza came out blasting, throwing thumping power shots that Kielczewski deftly blocked, circling and looking for spots between the bombs. He found his first opportunity late in the second round, hurting Mendoza with a body shot and dropping him with the follow up right to the ear. Mendoza easily beat the count, but Kielczewski had found his magic spot, and again dropped his game opponent with a picture perfect left hook to the body midway though the 3rd round for the ko victory.

Stepping up in competition, local prospect Mike Ohan, Jr of Holbrook, MA won a very competitive unanimous decision over Daniel Sostre, 13-19-1 of SanJuan, PR ina 6 round welterweight bout. At 6’ tall, Ohan used his reach and movement well, circling and landing flashy combinations, but the veteran Sostre was able to control the center of the ring much of the time, showing slick head movement and making the young fighter work for anything he landed. Sostre had his best moments in round 4 when he pinned Ohan on the ropes and pounded away until the bell looking for the KO, but to his credit, Ohan gamely fired back, and easily took the 5th round. The final stanza had both fighters exchanging in the center of the ring much to the delight of the pro Ohan crowd. Ohan improved to 8-0, 4 KOs with the UD victory.

Super middleweight Olympian Carlos Gongora improved to 13-0, 10 KOs with an impressive 3rd round KO over the usually durable Jaime Barboza, 19-16. Barboza started aggressively, but the precise power shots of Gongora soon took the starch out of the Costa Rican warrior. Hitting the deck in the second from a clean left uppercut, Barboza beat the count and the bell saved him from further punishment in the round. Early in the third however, another uppercut followed by a body shot put him down again, this time for the full count.

South Boston’s Joe Farina picked up his 4th win with a first round blowout of Vermont’s Andre Belcarris, 0-4 by virtue of a determined body attack. The victory may set up a showdown with cross-town rival Travis Gambardella of Revere, MA who also won in the previous bout, improving to 4-0-2 with a third round TKO over 1-8 Rodrigo Almeida, who’s corner stopped the bout after Almeida suffered a laceration over his eye.

Welterweight Travis Demko, 8-1, of Stoughton, MA won an entertaining unanimous decision over 4-8 Bryan Goldsby over 4 rounds.

Ft Meyer’s Fl lightweight Tommy Bryant, 4-17-3, pounded out a split decision over 7-2 Romain Tomas, originally from Paris, France now fighting out of New York City in a terrific 6 round all-action scrap. Bryant pressed the action throughout, while Tomas countered well and showed slick defense and movement, but lacked the pure volume of the determined Bryant.

In a battle of journeyman boxers, Brooklyn’s Sidney Maccow won a 4 round decision over Albany’s Bryan Abraham in a very entertaining opening bout. Maccow, now 5-8, dropped Abraham twice in the final round to cement the victory over the 6-32 Abraham.
