Yarde has no idea what to expect

Light heavyweight contender Anthony Yarde has no idea what to expect in Saturday’s bout at the Traktor Sport Palace in Chelyabinsk, Russia against WBO world champion Sergey Kovalev. Visualizing the experience at all – a popular tactic with elite sportspeople – has proven tricky because Yarde has no idea what to expect from his voyage into the unknown.

“I have no clue and that is the excitement for me,” added the 28-year-old. “I don’t know nothing, literally nothing! I don’t know what the venue is going to look like, what the crowd is going to be like…

“I might go out there and some of the crowd will be cheering for me. We might be fighting in the gym of his old secondary school. I don’t know.

“Again, that is the beauty of it and that is the challenge.”

  • One thing he can expect is some straight right hand torpedo like punches with a powerful left hook as well…On the other hand, we will get to see what Yarde is made of…He may dominate the fight…Should be a good fight though……

  • Yarde is in for a world of trouble. He bags didn’t turn up at the airport and he laughed about it? He won’t win but at least he is getting paid well.

  • I watched Yarde carrying his left hand way too low in his last fight. That won’t get the job done against elite boxers, unless he lands a Hail Mary.

  • Yarde probably won’t see the final bell. The only way out for him is likely on his arse.
