WBO 122lb champ Navarrete halts Horta in four

WBO super bantamweight champion Emanuel “Vaquero” Navarrete (30-1, 25 KOs) scored an impressive fourth round TKO over Francisco Horta (20-4-1, 10 KOs) on Saturday night at the Auditorio GNP Seguros in Puebla, Mexico. Navarrete overpowered Horta and punished him until the referee waved it off at 2:09 of round four. It was the fourth defense for Navarrete in the last seven months.

“I feel very happy to have been able to defend my title in front of my people. December 8 will be my one-year anniversary as a world champion, and I can’t be happier with everything I achieved this year. It was a very productive 2019,” Navarrete said.

“All the sacrifices I’ve made have been worth it. I have seen the improvement after each fight, and I want to continue improving so 2020 will be even better. That is why I will continue to work hard.”

  • One of the real fighters left, a proud champ and a definite top 10 P4P fighter. Always busy always fighting, this fighter has honor, strictly old school. After Canelo/DLH destroyed what Mexican fighters were, it’s great to see this fighter not forget what real fighters are all about. Another fighter that needs to be watched is Mario Barrios in 140-147 lbs. Man this guy is a terror, nobody will beat this kid. Congrats to Navarette who I.M.O will only get better.

  • Would love him to fight someone with power and technical skills to see where this guy really fits in.
