La Junta de Gobernadores del WBC ha votado por unanimidad para nombrar a Nonito Donaire como el contendiente obligatorio del WBC en la división de peso gallo. El período de negociaciones libres ha comenzado para la defensa obligatoria del título del campeón de peso gallo del WBC, Nordine Oubaali, y si no se llega a un acuerdo, se realizará una oferta de cartera el 3 de enero en la Ciudad de México.
