WBC female heavyweight champion Claressa Shields (16-0, 3 KOs) became undisputed with a one-sided ten round unanimous decision over previously undefeated 42-year-old Danielle Perkins (5-1, 2 KOs) on Sunday night at the Dort Financial Center in Flint, Michigan. The much smaller Shields rocked Perkins in round three and dropped her just before the final bell. Scores were 100-89, 97-92, 99-90. The WBA, IBF, and WBO each agreed to sanction the bout for their respective women’s heavyweight world titles.
6’6 heavyweight Brandon Moore (17-1, 10 KOs) won by eighth round disqualification against undefeated Skylar Lacy (8-1-2, 6 KOs). Both fighters were deducted one point in round four. Lacy was deducted another point in round eight. Moments later, both fighters went through the ropes and broke a ringside table. Lacy was DQ’d for unsportsmanlike conduct.
Undefeated welterweight fan-favorite Joseph Hicks (12-0, 8 KOs) got a seventh round referee’s stoppage against previously unbeaten Keon Papillion (10-1-1, 7 KOs). A barrage of shots prompted Papillion’s corner pull the plug on the fight. Time was 1:35.
Undefeated lightweight Joshua James Pagan (12-0, 4 KOs) outpointed Ronal Ron (16-8, 13 KOs) over eight rounds. Scores were 79-73, 78-74, 78-74.
Female featherweight Carolyne Veyre (9-1) defeated Carmen Vargas (5-3-1) in a clash for the Women’s WBA Inter-Continental title. Scores were 80-72 3x.
Middleweight Leon Lawson (17-1, 10 KOs) won by TKO at the 34-second mark over Christopher Thompson (9-3, 6 KOs).
Samantha Worthington (11-0, 7 KOs) wins by UD (77-75, 79-73, 78-74) over Vaida Masiokaite (10-27-6, 1 KO) in the 8-round super lightweight bout.
Pryce Taylor improved to (6-0, 4 KOs) by scoring a KO victory over Jerell Nettles (4-11, 1 KO) at the 2:28 mark of Round 2. Taylor, who dropped his guard and fired away at Nettles, easily got the victory.

That Moore vs Lacy fight was an abomination.
– Had another outstanding night at the fights.
– In the Detroit area, so I attended.
– Paid $51 for a bleachers seat and moved down.
– Left before the main event started because I was beat and had a 90-minute drive.
– Shields had a solid following of fans…….
shields vs tommy furry
shields vs jake paul
shields vs some shiity mma fighter in a boxing match..
or?
Shields just put the the other six girls in the division on notice.
“girls”? Shields is fighting overweight women that are “over the hill” and “worthless” that nobody knows
That’s a deceptive post. Pretty much no one knows about any woman boxer other than the small boxing community. Stop undermining her achievements. When she easily beat Savanah, no one was saying she was over the hill. When she easily beat Hammer, no one was saying she was over the hill.
Skylar Lacy is a real cool guy. I was hoping he’d upset Moore. Lacy played football for Louisville, and blocked for Lamar Jackson.
Big deal. Shields wins against a 42 year old 6 fight novice…
Women boxing sucks!
Seems pretty weak that you can walk through three divisions with 15 fights on your record. You really can’t pretend that you’re great when that’s the case. It’s that women’s boxing is so poorly off in terms of serious competition. She picked up the strap fighting a Grandma basically. I don’t know how to say it any other way, but shields is just absolutely uninteresting to me. She may need to go back down and then back up through three divisions another time for me to respect her accomplishments. Just is what it is really.
No … that’s just you undermining her achievements. She earned all those wins.
“Seems pretty weak that you can walk through three divisions with 15 fights on your record.”
Well, Broner won gold in four divisions. So
The upper divisions of women’s boxing must be in some pretty awful shape if a 42 year old with 6 fights is in a title fight.
The (much) lighter divisions actually have some skill, but these larger classes are…lacking.
I had the fight 97-92 like one of the judges. Perkins I thought was winning some rounds and the announcers were not giving her credit. They were so caught up in saying how great Shields was that they would not even comment when Perkins would land some punches. On the positive I think Shield’s power has improved at the higher weight.
I scored the fight 97-92 also. And the announcers running with a narrative instead of calling the fight is so common now that I am able to block it out and sometimes I even turn the volume off. Shields clearly has crazy fast hands and lots of power. Not her fault that there isn’t much competition out there at the higher weights but some of these wins don’t prove a whole lot.
The worst undisputed heavyweight title fight in history.
Rumor is…..Crawford vs Canelo in September.
Boxing…the joke of the sports world
Shields is very good. i will give that. She’s a classic heel. Hope she goes back to fighting MMA..
This female boxing is a load of crap lol
I suppose Shields should be commended for stepping up in weight, significantly increasing the size of her backside and the thickness of her thighs, to beat a 42 year old woman with only 5 fights, to be crowned a “heavyweight champion”. No stopping her now, and she certainly will loudly let you know about it too, proclaiming herself the “greatest woman fighter of all time.” Excuse me for saying that I’m not impressed. I find her to be such a bore. She’s certainly no Katie Taylor.
– There were some really good female fighters back in the day including:
– Lucia Rijker.
– Ann Wolf.
– Holly Holm.
– Regina Halmich.
Most of her fights were in the amateur
Shields is very proud of her accomplishments. Now she can add beatings women with a 5-0 record to that list.
5-1
Folks are pretty hard on Shields. She’s in a Rocky Marciano type situation. Its not her fault if her competition is weak. In Marciano’s case big names but they were over the hill. She’s doing her part. She’s undisputed HW champ, undisputed in multiple weight classes, you complain she doesn’t demonstrate enough power and now she’s showing the power. She may be the most accomplished women’s boxer ever. Its not like women’s boxing was laced with starts before. If multiple notable names were around they were either in vastly different weight classes or they ended up not fighting each other ala Lucia Rijker vs Christy Martin (I believed Rijker would have won) or Lalia Ali vs Anne Wolf (toss up). For all who are complaining whom would they like to see Shields fight? She’s cleaned out several divisions. What is there left for her to do? Does she have a 50/50 opponent? Folks complain about her but none ever say she’s dodging anyone. Who does she need to fight?
