Trainer Eddy Reynoso has worked for a few weeks now with current WBO featherweight world champion Oscar Valdez. They have forged a friendship and it seems that they both like working together.
“Oscar is a great fighter, a great learner. We’ve been working since October 1. He is a world champion and he has his style. We’re trying to teach him to counterpunch, because as we know, the less punishment you take the longer you last in boxing. He’s doing great,” said Eddy.
Oscar will have Reynoso in his corner for the first time in January according to manager Frank Espinoza, who in addition to Valdez, handles Antonio Orozco, Jessie Magdaleno and many more fighters.
“Oscar will be back in January. That’s what Top Rank has lined up for him. We’re looking for an opponent. The chemistry between Oscar and Eddy has been great. They get along great, they talk about baseball a lot, they talk about animals, and they understand each other. That’s the most important thing. I am very happy,” said Espinoza.
Oscar is ready to resume his career after he suffered a broken jaw in a fight of the year candidate against Scott Quigg in his last contest.
“Me and Eddy have been working very well. We are getting used to working together, but I like the work Eddy puts in, his game plan. It’s been a great experience,” stated Valdez.
