WBO bantamweight champion Zolani Tete (25-3, 21 KOs) scored a twelve round unanimous decision over four-fight novice Mikhail Aloyan (4-1, 0 KOs) in their WBSS bantamweight quarter-final on Saturday night at the Ekaterinburg Expo in Ekaterinburg, Russia. Tete was credited with a knockdown in round one when Ayoyan’s glove touched the canvas. It was a ugly, holding-filled affair between the two southpaws after that. Tete was docked a point in round ten and Aloyan was deducted a point in round eleven, both for holding. Scores were 114-111, 114-111, 114-110.
Ayoyan, is a former Olympian and amateur world champion. He and Tete are actually the same age (30).
In a WBSS cruiserweight quarter-final, unbeaten Las Vegas cruiserweight Andrew “The Beast” Tabiti (17-0, 13 KOs) scored a twelve round unanimous decision over previously unbeaten Ruslan Fayfer (23-1, 16 KOs). It was a sloppy fight with lots of holding. Fayfer was deducted a point for pushing in the final minute of the fight. Scores were 116-111, 115-112, 114-113.
Unbeaten super middleweight Vladimir Shishkin (8-0, 5 KOs) scored a tenth round KO over former world title challenger Nadjib Mohammedi (40-7, 23 KOs). Mohammedi was dropped in round nine, but Shishkin was deducted a point for hitting while he was on the deck. Shishkin floored Mohammedi three more times in round ten to end it.
Heavyweight Andrey Fedosov (31-3, 25 KOs) scored a ten round unanimous decision over Joey Dawejko (19-6-4, 11 KOs).
