Opening the PPV event in Las Vegas, Jesus Ramos Jr., 159, used his southpaw stance and his clear advantage in speed, to frustrate former WBA and IBF world champion Jeison Rosario, 159.2, stopping the former champion in round eight. Ramos immediately set the tempo and frustrated the veteran as he boxed effectively and used the ring against his plodding foe. Rosario seemed completely unable to respond to the speed and quickness of Ramos, who began to incioioperste a devastating body attack in round two to further rattle the Dominican.
By round four the body attack emerged as the most significant aspect of Ramos’s offense, and by there start of round seven it was clear that Ramos was pitching a complete shutout. Any hope for a rally in the second half of the fight for Ramos was put to rest late in round seven when a counter combination upstairs sent Rosario crashing to the canvas. Rosario got up and weathered the storm as Ramos tried to end the affair there in the final seconds of the round, But as he stumbled to his corner it was clear that he took significant damage in the round snd that, barring something miraculous, the fight was nearing its end. Ramos wisely elected to box intelligently to kick off round eight, not throwing caution to the wind.
But what was working so effectively in the first seven rounds was still paying dividends for Ramos in round eight and a sharp body attack followed by a right hook.left cross combo upstairs wobbled the Dominican and prompted the referee to wave off the fight at 2:15 of the round. With the win Ramos improvers to 22-1, 18 KOs while Rosario falls to 24-5-2, 18 KOs.
Hopefully Rosario retired he got nothing more prove had a great career was a unfied 154 pounds champion hopefully he stay in the sport of boxing as a trainer in the future.Ramos vs Tim Tszyu next if Tim beats Joey Spencer.
