Ortiz-Molina canceled, new headliner announced

Due to the legal problems of Victor Ortiz, Sunday’s Ortiz-Molina clash on FS1 has been canceled. The new main event at the Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, California, is a featherweight ten-rounder between Brandon Figueroa (16-0, 11 KOs) and Oscar Escandon (25-4, 17 KOs). Brandon is the brother of former WBC lightweight champion Omar Figueroa.

2016 Olympic super heavyweight silver medalist “Juggernaut” Joe Joyce (5-0, 5 KOs) faces Iago Kiladze (26-3, 18 KOs) in the ten round co-feature. Also, Olympian Efe Ajagba (6-0, 5 KOs) faces Nick Jones (7-0, 5 KOs) in a six-round bout. Ajagba’s last opponent, Curtis Harper, fled the ring on national TV just after the opening bell.

According to PBC, John Molina, Jr., who was scheduled to oppose Ortiz in the main event, will be rescheduled to return to the ring soon. Ortiz is facing three felony sexual assault charges.
