Former world champion Jackie Nava (34-4-3, 15 KOs) gave a boxing lesson to Alys Sánchez (15-5-1, 4 KOs) on Saturday night, successfully returning to the ring after 18 months. The bout ended when Sanchez didn’t come out for round eight at the Arena Mexico City.
“My body responded well,” said the 38-year-old Nava. “I felt really good and I want to improve in my next fight, which hopefully will be Mariana (Juarez). This is what the public asks for and I want that fight!”
WBC bantamweight champion Mariana “Barby” Juarez (50-9-4, 18 KOs) did her part to set up a showdown with Nava. “Barby” retained her title by ten round unanimous decision over Terumi Nuki (10-4, 7 KOs). Scores were 98-91, 98-91 and 97-92.
