WBC flyweight champion Julio Cesar Martinez (18-1, 14 KOs) won by sixth round TKO to successfully defend his title against Joel Cordova (12-4-2, 3 KOs) on Saturday night at the Dome Alcalde – CODE Jalisco in Guadalajara, Mexico. It was a war early on. However, Martinez eventually took over and after two monster left hooks in round six floored Cordova, Martinez got the stoppage with his follow-up barrage. Time was 1:00.

“I am grateful with the team and we’re aiming to stay at flyweight and unify the titles,” said Martinez. “He was as tough as I expected, a great fighter and we’re all here to win, so all respect to him. Now I want to unify next.”

  • I still don’t get how Martinez keeps getting away from punching from his waist I mean he latterly always has his hands down. One day he will get cracked for sure.
