Kieza set for QBHOF induction

Australian boxing writer Grantlee Kieza will be inducted into the Queensland (State) Boxing Hall Of Fame on Sunday for 37 years of service to boxing.

Kieza became a boxing fan while in high school watching Muhammad Ali fights and when he left school in 1979 he became a journalist for the Courier Mail newspaper in Brisbane and later worked at the Daily Telegraph in Sydney in 1982.

Grantlee also worked for 2017 IBHOF Inductee trainer Johnny Lewis working as cornerman in all of three-time world champion Jeff Fenech’s successful title bouts. He was in Joe Bugner’s corner against Frank Bruno in London, and also WBC light heavyweight champion Jeff “Hitman” Harding. Kieza traveled to Mexico to be in Lovemore Ndou’s corner with Harold Volbrecht in 2010 against Saul Canelo Alvarez.

Grantlee is the author of “Boxing in Australia” and also the official biography on Jeff Fenech.

He also published several boxing magazines including the “Fist”, “Pacific Fighter” and currently “Australian Boxing Legends.”
