    • Wouldn’t be too sure about that-looks like a pretty even fight to me. Figuero was +225 at my book and went down to +200 a day later when I took him. Now down to +190 so more money is coming in on him. Getting 2-1 odds on what seems like a very live dog.

  • Figueroa makes Erik Morales circa 2000 look obese. I’ll go Nery in the 11th.

  • I finally had a chance to take a look at both fighters, and my previous preliminary choice was Figueroa.

Figueroa has the height, reach and natural size advantage. However, Figueroa’s defense is not good enough for an experienced fighter like Nery, so Figueroa’s chin will get challenged. I do not recall Figueroa ever tasting the canvas though (?), but Nery has been down a few times. I am expecting Figueroa to use his natural size advantage for applying pressure and body punching on Nery. I also expect Figueroa to add a little more weight on fight night.

Nery will use his experience to display accurate punching against by Figueroa’s questionable defense. However, Nery better display excellent inside fighting because Figueroa will bring inside pressure from rounds 1-12. Nery must also display excellent conditioning because Figueroa’s pressure is relentless.

In closing, I believe Figueroa’s size, pressure, volume punching, chin and conditioning will earn him a SD.

Regardless of the winner, I expect a heck of a scrap.
