Cuadras, Felix win in Los Mochis

By Gabriel F. Cordero

Former world champion Carlos “El Príncipe” Cuadras (37-3-1, 27 KOs) won by seventh round technical decision over Ricardo “Matematico” Nunez (29-8, 23 KOs) at the Centro de Usos Multiples in Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico. Cuadras suffered two cuts from accidental head butts that caused heavy bleeding over both eyes, so the fight was stopped and the judges’ cards favored him by 68-63, 68-63 and 69-63. It was Cuadras’ first fight since entering rehab and overcoming addictions earlier this year.

In the co-feature, super lightweight José “Josesito” Felix Jr. (37-3-1, 28 KOs) Jr barely won a six round unanimous decision over unheralded Emmanuel Herrera (4-5, 0 KOs). Scores were 58-57, 58-57 and 59-56.

Also 2016 Olympian Juan Pablo Romero (8-0, 5KOs) dominated Jorge Valenzuela (6-4, 1 KO) to win 60-54 3x.
