Derek Chisora says Oleksandr Usyk is in store for the “fright of his life” when they collide in a heavyweight Halloween blockbuster at The SSE Arena, Wembley on Saturday October 31, live on Sky Sports Box Office in the UK and on DAZN in all of its nine markets including the U.S.
‘WAR’ Chisora (32-9, 23 KOs) intends on giving Usyk nightmares in his second fight up at heavyweight, and the Finchley powerhouse heads into next weekend’s clash in terrifying form having scored big knockout wins over Artur Szpika and David Price at The O2 in 2019.
“On October 31st, Oleksandr Usyk is going to get the fright of his life,” said Chisora. “He wants to claim he is at the top of the food chain, but if he wants to do that he needs to box a true heavyweight. It’s a fight, the guy is going to chuck the kitchen sink at me. I’m just going to bite down on the gum shield and let God take over. I am coming for war!
“The fight sells itself, he is a good fighter and is loved by the English fans. Even people who don’t like boxing love watching him and he’s fighting myself. There is nothing bad about this fight, there’s not hatred, it’s all about the love for the sport.
“He’s not scary, it’s a fight. He’s a man and I’m a man. The worst thing that can happen is you get knocked out. I will make sure that when Usyk gets out that ring he knows he has been in a fight. Seek and destroy, no mercy! That’s what we’re aiming for.”
Chisora is a big natural heavyweight that can take a decent shot. He needs to make it a dog fight in the first round and see if Usyk can withstand the pressure and power. Usyk is more like a technician who will break you down little by little. However if Usyk does land a couple of good clean shots on Chisora’s chin early on, he may win by stoppage.
I give respect to Chisora as he always comes ready to fight. This is new grounds for Usyk to step into the heavyweight division and Chisora is a decent test for the former cruiserweight. I think this will be an interesting fight to say the least. I do believe if Usyk can create distance and work off his jab, he may frustrate the slightly slower Chisora. Chisora needs to cut the ring off and teach Usyk a lesson that the heavyweight division is a totally different animal than cruiserweight. Yes, I am in to watch this match up.
For many years before cruiserweights they were heavyweights. Big heavyweights were often defeated by more skilled smaller ones.
I don’t like Chisora’s language coming into this fight. He only wants to make a tough fight for Usyck, not necessarily win. Doesn’t want to upset the ‘Applecart’. You can put the house on Usyck!
Doubt it.
But hey, lets see it Chisora
Got to love Chisoras attitude, pretty much never in a dull fight and not afraid to fight anyone.
Think he’s got an uphill struggle here, guess it’ll show us what kind of HW Usyk is. Should be a good fight too.
Only thing Usyk will do in the division is spoil a unification between Fury and AJ. After he wins here he will demand a shot at the title become a mandatory so one of the belts from AJ will be stripped.
Don’t sleep on me. Bet some good money on that W
Very interesting matchup. We know well both guys, but the analysis will be on Usyk.
How well, if he gets hit by Chisora, Usyk will respond, also, does he has enough power now as a HW to deter a fighter like Chisora?
This fight should tell or at lest give us a clue about Usyk’s chances against the top guys at HW.
Usyk wins….they talked shit about Holyfield as well when he entered the Heavies
Holyfield was jacked like a bodybuilder and his headbutts were nasty. Usyk has a technical, methodical style buy may not have the power or chin for the big boys nor the muscle to wrestle them in the clinches.
Holyfield was all juiced up He cheated, he was a great light heavy and cruiser weight
Gotta love Chisora! No matter what is is for sure a game fighter that comes to crack. Usyk has the talent, Chisora has the brawler power. He’s spot on in all he said as far as a good fight and everyone wants to see. My gut says Usyk via his polished skill but I’m all up for what id consider an upset with chisora getting a KO(being the underdog). I just want to see a good fight!!!
This is a particularly dangerous fight for Usyk because of delboy’s height and where he throws his punches. Usyk will have to fight with his feet in this one, but we know he can for 12 solid rounds. The Ukrainian should be able to pull off a wide UD in this fight, but might get put on his butt in the process.
