Bobby Gunn competing in bare knuckles event

Tonight at the Cheyenne Ice & Events Center in Cheyenne, Wyoming, an event is being billed as the first legal, regulated, and sanctioned bare-knuckle event in the United States since 1889. The $29.95 PPV telecast is being held under the auspices of the Wyoming Combative Sports Commission. The most notable boxer involved is 44-year-old heavyweight Bobby Gunn (21-7-1, 18 KOs), who is coming off a 2017 loss to Roy Jones Jr. Gunn has previous experience as a bare-knuckle fighter, and he lays claim to being the lineal bare-knuckle boxing heavyweight champion. Gunn will face fellow boxer Irineu Beato Costa Junior (19-7, 17 KOs), who has the unusual distinction of being 19-0 in South America and 0-7 elsewhere. Probably the most recognizable name competing is former UFC heavyweight champion Ricco Rodriguez.
