Current WBC super featherweight champion Miguel “El Alacran” Berchelt (31-1, 28 KOs) and his challenger Takashi Miura (31-3-2, 24 KOs) hosted a Los Angeles media workout at City of Angels Gym ahead of their HBO-televised fight Saturday at the “Fabulous” Forum.
Miguel Berchelt: “I consider myself a world champion, and fighting Takashi Miura is a way to prove that I am the best in my class…I was able to get through Francisco Vargas, so I know that I can take on Miura.”
Takashi Miura: “I have more heart than Berchelt. I want this more than I want anything. I am expecting a war because I know he won’t want to give up his belt that easy. But I want it back.”
The tripleheader will also feature WBA super featherweight champion Jezreel “El Invisible” Corrales (21-1, 8 KOs) who will make his U.S. debut against Robinson “Robin Hood” Castellanos (24-12, 14 KOs) and light heavyweight contenders Joe Smith, Jr. (23-1, 19 KOs) and Sullivan Barrera (19-1, 14 KOs) who meet in the TV opener.
