Unbeaten Russian prospect Batyr Akhmedov (5-0, 4 KOs) avoided a scare in route to stopping former WBA interim world champ Ismael Barroso (20-3, 19 KOs) of Venezuela on Saturday night at the luxurious Westin Bonaventure Hotel in Los Angeles. Barroso had Akhmedov down in the fight but Akhmedov came back to stop him with a body shot in round eight. Akhmedov won the WBA inter-continental super lightweight title. Ed Holmes/All Star Boxing promoted the event. The next show will be September 29th at the Quiet Cannon, Montebello, California.
