WBC #1 Waseem returns Wednesday in Panama

The WBC #1 ranked flyweight in the world Muhammad Waseem (5-0, 3 KOs) of Pakistan returns to action Wednesday. Waseem arrived in Panama over the weekend with his trainer Jeff Mayweather. Waseem will fight a local fighter to be announced shortly on the undercard of a show promoted by local Promoter Rogelio Espino/Promociones y Eventos del Istmo at the Fantastic Casino de Albrook Mall in Panama City, Panama.

This will be the first fight in 2017 for Waseem but he is already in excellent fight shape and is scheduled to fight again July 29th in Panama. His promoter Andy Kim/AK Promotions is hopeful that Waseem will be in the mix for a world title fight by the end of the year.

“I am very thankful to President Mauricio Sulaiman for the opportunity for Waseem now being the #1 contender. I am also thankful to the Pakistan Government for their support of Waseem. I am optimistic of Waseem getting his opportunity to make history for his country becoming their first world boxing champion before 2017 is over,” said Kim.
