Veraza ready for Telemundo debut tonight

Mexico City native Josue Veraza (18-8-2, 14 KOs) will make his Telemundo debut tonight at the Auditorio Blackberry in Mexico City. His opponent will be countryman and former world title challenger Romulo Koasicha (25-6, 15 KOs). The pair will continue on to what has been an explosive Telemundo summer series so far. The vacant WBO Latino featherweight title will be at stake.

Veraza is well aware of Koasicha and his world title experience, but he’s entering the ring well prepared with a pro home crowd supporting him.

What did you work on specifically in preparation for this fight?

To use my intelligence in the ring. I worked on my movement with my legs and waist.

What do you know about Koasicha?

He is very strong and comes at you head on. He really likes to exchange punches.

Do you see any advantages for you knowing his style of boxing?

The fact that he likes to exchange to me is an advantage for me. I myself like to stand and trade punches as well.

How motivated have you been throughout training knowing you will get your chance to be seen on television by varias countries including your own?

I am very content. It shows me that all my hard work and efforts in training were worth it. The world will see in me that there is a new face in the featherweight division to contend with.

You both are from Mexico but you’re actually from Mexico City the site of the fight. You think the local fans will support you more?

I am sure I will have the majority of the support, but at the end of the day it’s just he and I in the ring. I have to be completely focused on him because fan support will not take away his will to win.

What is your style of boxing?

I have always been a guy to go straight forward and look for the fight. This time I will have to be different and have a plan A thru Z in order to be victorious.

What kind of fight should fans expect to see tonight?

Our styles are made to produce and explosive fight whether by knockout or decision. I expect there to be no break in the action from beginning to the end.
